Carol started out her professional life practicing law. She worked as corporate counsel for major U.S. companies – but her true calling was to work with children. Once her own sons started preschool, she knew it was time to make a change. In 2005, she transitioned to education and spent the next 13 years as a special education teacher in Columbus City Schools. She started at Fort Hayes, and completed her tenure at Clinton Elementary.
After leaving CCS, she realized that what she knows about special education, her students, her colleagues and the day-to-day challenges they face needs to be part of the discussion on the school board.
She and her husband, Bill Hayes, live in Franklin Park. Her two sons are currently teaching English in Thailand and her three stepchildren all live in Columbus.
If elected, Carol will strive to live her values as a servant leader. She will work tirelessly promoting the district and seeking opportunities to advance an agenda that puts KIDS FIRST.
