I started my professional life practicing law, working mostly as in-house counsel in large corporations. When my sons (currently 27 and 29) started pre-school, I knew I wanted to work with children.  In 2004, I transitioned to teaching and spent the next thirteen (13) years teaching special education in Columbus City Schools – eight (8) years at Fort Hayes and five (5) at Clinton Elementary.

In 2019,  I ran for school board  because I believed our school board would benefit from my perspective as a veteran teacher in the district and a former corporate lawyer.   Now, armed with the benefit of my previous experience along with the relationships and experience gained from my first term, I am incredibly well-positioned to move the dial on our student outcomes.

My husband, Bill Hayes,  and I live in Franklin Park, where we can frequently be found throwing pebbles into the pond with our grandson. We are blessed to have four of our five children (plus our grandson) living here in Columbus  and we  enjoy visiting our fifth,  who lives in Washington, D.C.
